I tried this, with the way I did it, the windows xp computer gets stuck on acquiring network address, then it finally goes to limited or no connectivity.

I tried manually assigning an IP address on the XP computer, in which case it works, but does not get internet access. Could this be a problem with something on the xp computer? Also, ip addresses must be assigned automatically and not manually. And the windows 10 computer has windows defender and malwarebytes on it, while the XP computer has an expired version or norton. The IP addresses are currently both assigned to automatic, although I have tried manually assigning as well, to no avail.
