You shouldn't shift between R, N, P or D while the car is moving because it is bad for your car, but because 1st gear is a subset of 2nd gear and 2nd gear is a subset of D, the only thing changing from D to 1 or 2 will do is limit you to driving in 1st and 2nd gears.
