We invite you to join us in caring for new generations of children, families and all of Lower Manhattan as we celebrate 32 years of service! The Downtown Community Center Family membership at the Community Center includes something for everyone, like family swim, open play, art, ceramics, and music.

Downtown Day Camp We are so grateful for the best summer ever! Manhattan Youth After-School Program Our goal is for your child to participate in project-based activities, finish homework assignments, and get physical exercise every day that school is in session.

Read more. Elementary School K-5th Grade. Middle School th Grade. This course is ideal for students who seek an introduction to graphic design or have a general interest in learning how to create and communicate through visual media.

Through a comprehensive look at topics such as layout, typography, color, space, balance, and hierarchy, students will be exposed to the most effective uses of graphic design in today's visual world. Students will create projects such as posters, stickers and t-shirts. Students will tackle recipes with five steps or less from start to finish and present their final dishes for a close-up photo shoot!

While the instructions are minimal, students will get the chance to show some style and get hands on experience following a recipe! Students learn self-defense, focus, concentration and discipline in a non-contact weekly martial arts workout.

Classes are grouped by K-3 age and belt level. All levels work on forms, and bag work: kicks, punches, blocks and footwork. Sparring begins at yellow belt. At the end of each semester, we have an exhibition and test, where students have an opportunity for belt advancement by teacher recommendation.

Led by crowd favorite and award winning composer and theater actor John Tafone, drawing from a variety of songs from classic jazz standards to pop tunes, we will teach students vocal production, singing and choreography. Join us on Fridays for some fun and relaxing gaming. We will have various devices and game stations set up for students to participate in some friendly gaming, matches, tournaments, or whatever type of gaming they would like to participate in.

There will be an opportunity for students to engage in socializing and interaction with their peers while exploring shared interests. Calling all animal lovers who want to have a creative and FUN art class adventure! In this exciting art class, students will learn how to create unique artwork that is inspired by animals and wildlife while also learning fun facts about the life of each animal.

Classes are grouped by age and belt level. Creating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for budding musicians. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement and music theory, to compose and perform their own original songs. Register Here! Aliya manhattanyouth. Manhattan Youth After-School the Downtown Community Center Students will engage in a variety of activities responding to the physical fitness and socioemotional need for students eager to have a fun environment, where they can reconnect with their peers, and their favorite after-school coaches and group leaders.

Grade K— 2 Appetite for Adventure! Grade K— 2 Claymation. Grade K— 5 Ceramics. Grade 2—3 Spa Science Discover the chemistry involved in making things that you would experience in a spa! Soaps, body scrubs, cosmetics, nail polish and color, bath oils, lipstick, perfumes and more! Students will make their own line of products that are safe to use at home! Grade 4—5 Monday Madness. Grade 3—5 Stop Motion. Grade 4—5 Spa Science Discover the chemistry involved in making things that you would experience in a spa!

Not only will we learn about the music of these countries, but many aspects of their cultures as well! Grade K— 2 Confectionary Creations. From worm composting and recycling to green energy and sustainable power, students will explore how the world works, and what it will take to keep it going! Upper grades will participate in service projects at their schools and in the community.

Grade K— 5 DCC Swimming Lessons At the beginning of each semester, children are evaluated individually by our full-time aquatic director and certified teaching staff.

Grade 2—3 DCC MY Runway Project Students will sketch fashion figures, design fabrics, and create full lines of clothing, producing their own style books. Students will work toward an end of semester Fashion show featuring the design pieces they've worked on.
